Walking the Royal Tratturo L'Aquila Foggia 

26 September - 5 October 2024 



A ten-day itinerary, starting in L'Aquila, in front of the Basilica of Collemaggio on 26 September, and arriving in Foggia the following 5 October, crossing the tratturo Regio. 

The initiative is by Settimio Rapposelli, a bagpiper and lover of regional traditions, who has organised an evocative route that will pass through the historical places of transhumance. The rendezvous is on Thursday, 26 September in the square in front of the Collemaggio basilica in L'Aquila,

Image Description  continuing towards Onna, San Demetrio until reaching the Peltuinum excavations. The following day we will head towards Navelli, walking along the Centurelle church Image Description and then down to Capo d'Acqua. On the 28th we will walk as far as Forca di penne and, once we have descended, we will reach Cugnoli and then Rosciano. On Sunday 29, a stop at Colle Marcone di Chieti, Bucchianico with arrival in Vacri in front of the church of San Vincenzo. The following day, the route will resume towards Arielli to arrive in Lanciano. 

On October 1, from the Frentano capital, Iconicella church, there will be a stop at the cemetery of Torino di Sangro, descending to the coast in the Le Morge area to arrive in Vasto. Image Description After a night of rest, the walk continues to Petacciato. On 3 October the march resumes, heading back inland and reaching San martino in Perillis. On Friday 4 October, the departure is from Cambio to the area of Cime Tempestose, lunch break and then on to Doganella di Serrapriola and arrival at Masseria Defensola in San paolo Civitate. On Saturday 5 October, the last day of the route will see the arrival in Foggia.
