These are the towns that, in the aftermath of the Unification of Italy, experienced the phenomenon of brigandage and, subsequently, emigration, primarily towards the United States and South America.
Numerous military authorities will also be present, including the General Commander of the Carabinieri ROS, Pasquale Angelosante, and Daniele Galardo, Lieutenant and Director of the Italian Military Shrine of Montelungo.
“Antonio Di Fruscia’s book – states the introduction – addresses the theme of brigandage and the Southern question with rigor and sensitivity, restoring a voice to men and women often forgotten by official history. Through documents, testimonies, and personal reflections, the author offers a critical and passionate reading of a period that continues to challenge the national conscience: the difficult encounter between North and South, between State and people, between memory and identity.”
